  • What is a voltage transformer?

These are devices that increase or decrease a certain voltage value. The transformer consists of a core and two coils. The core is made of a ferromagnetic material and the coils are made up of a different number of turns, called primary and secondary. The primary is the coil that receives the voltage from the network, and the secondary is the coil in which the voltage is transformed.

  • What is the difference between a transformer and an autotransformer?

      Transformer
  • What do single-phase and three-phase mean?

    • Single-phase Transformer: It is made up of two windings that form a set of coils, with a primary coil, which receives the highest voltage and a secondary coil, which provides the lowest voltage. Both installed on the same ferromagnetic material core.

  • What is tension?

It is measured in Volts, its symbol is the capital letter “V”.

  • What is current?

It is measured in Amperes, its symbol is the capital letter “A”, current ultimately determines the “amount” of energy that is used to power a certain equipment or electrical device.

  • What is power?

It is measured in Volt Ampère, its symbol is the capital letters “VA”. When the power in VA is not defined, it can be calculated as follows:

  • What does primary and secondary mean?

    • PRIMARY or INPUT: Identifies the voltages that will supply the transformer. It can be just one voltage, for example 220V or more than one, for example 220 – 380 – 440V. When the transformer is designed for more than one input, this transformer becomes more flexible and can be used in any of the conditions.

  • What is a three-phase starter autotransformer?

These autotransformer models are used to start motors that use a compensator switch. The center points are called TAP, typically 65 and 80% voltage. The number of starts per hour is specified, which can be 5s or 10s at equal intervals.

  • What is reactance and where is it used?

Reactances (or inductors) are used as harmonic filters in capacitor banks, converters, rectifiers, frequency inverters, among other equipment. They can be installed at the input or output of powered equipment, according to the project.

  • What information is needed to request a quote?

    • Transformer model (autotransformer or isolator; single-phase or three-phase)

  • What is degree of protection?

These are measures applied to the casing of electrical equipment, aiming to:
